Northwest Territorial Mint: In The News

Northwest Territorial Mint congratulates Navy Senior Chief Edward C. Byers Jr., the latest recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Navy Senior Chief Edward C. Byers Jr received the Medal of Honor.

The designs for the Medal of Honor were created by Medallic Art Company, the 113-year-old division of Northwest Territorial Mint, whose awards division mints medals for the U.S. military.

Senior Chief Edward C. Byers Jr. is the first Navy SEAL since Vietnam to receive the Medal of Honor while still living. He risked his own life to save an American hostage from the clutches of the Taliban in Afghanistan. During his acceptance, Byers stated he would proudly receive the medal as a representative of all Navy SEALs and the Naval Special Warfare Community. He expressed that all men within his community bear the weight of sacrifice and accept that as part of their job.

Northwest Territorial Mint is honored to have such a courageous and selfless man fighting for our freedoms. Thank you, Senior Chief Edward C. Byers Jr.
